Three generations of birthdays fall today in the Haughton household. My father is 87, my brother is 49 and my niece is 14. There have been birthday cakes and cups of tea up there, with my parents going out for their annual lunch in Enniskerry.
Next week is Gran's birthday. Then our birthday season starts in March, with Ian achieving the big one eight. He might even get to vote in the elections this year if he manages to get on the register in time.
